The paper presents an extension of differential calculus to maps from one metric space to another which is called mutational calculus. By using previous results, extensively quoted in the paper, and the concept of ``transition'' the author defines the differential quotient of a map. The transitions replace half-lines which are used in vector spaces to define limits. The concept of differential equation can be extended to mutational equation describing evolution in metric spaces. The authors show that many basic tools in differential equations (Nagumo, Cauchy-Lipschitz and Center Manifold Theorems and the second Lyapunov method) hold true for mutational equations.
