Bernstein algebras were introduced in the paper of \textit{Yu. I. Lyubich} [Usp. Mat. Nauk 32, No. 6, 261-262 (1977; Zbl 0376.92008)] in connection with a problem in mathematical genetics, in which the biological characteristics of the two parents are communicated to their offspring. The main result of this paper is to prove a conjecture of Lyubich, according to which a nuclear Bernstein algebra with a stochastic basis is regular.
