The aim of this paper is to consider exact and approximate multivariate interpolation of a function \(f\) by a rational function and to develop the corresponding error formula. Exact interpolation is through point values for \(f\) and approximate interpolation is through intervals bounding \(f\). The authors make use of an error formula obtained for multivariate polynomial interpolation. Finally, two practical application of the error formula are given: from computational finance and electromagnetism.
