The authors study self-dual modules in the category \({\mathcal O}_ S\) of \({\mathfrak g}\)-modules, associated to a complex semisimple Lie algebra \({\mathfrak g}\) and its parabolic subalgebra \({\mathfrak p}_ S\). They give the classification of indecomposable self-dual \({\mathfrak g}\)-modules, which have filtrations with generalized Verma modules as successive factors. Then they extend to the category \({\mathcal O}_ S\) some results on bilinear and sesquilinear forms, obtained earlier by T. Enright and B. Shelton for certain choices of \({\mathfrak g}\) and \({\mathfrak p}_ S\) maximal.
