The authors study the Riemann problem for the two-dimensional wave system being the Euler system with neglected square terms. The equation of state is the Chaplygin law. The global solution to a semi-hyperbolic patch is constructed. The problem is reduced to a Goursat-type boundary value problem in a domain bounded by two characteristics and with sonic curve as the degenerate boundary.
