Let \(\Gamma\) be a group. In this paper, the authors investigate crossed modules which are determined by braided strict \(\Gamma\)-graded categorical groups. The main results of the paper read as follows. First, the category of braided strict categorical groups and regular symmetric monoidal functors is equivalent to the category of braided crossed modules. This result is then extended by proving that the category of braided strict \(\Gamma\)-graded categorical groups and regular \(\Gamma\)-graded symmetric monoidal functors is equivalent to the category of braided \(\Gamma\)-crossed modules. Finally, the authors develop a Schreier theory for \(\Gamma\)-module extensions of the type of an abelian \(\Gamma\)-crossed module, as a generalization of the theory of \(\Gamma\)-module extensions. This is presented by using graded symmetric monoidal functors, and a classification theorem for \(\Gamma\)-module extensions of the type of an abelian \(\Gamma\)-crossed module is given.
