Virasoro algebra is an infinite-dimensional Lie algebra with many appearances in mathematics and in mathematical physics, i.e., quantum physics, conformal field theory, vertex operator algebras, etc. Various families of non-weight Virasoro modules were constructed and studied, including Whittaker modules, modules induced from certain special subalgebras, modules with locally finite action of positive part, and modules defined by many other methods whose references are cited in this paper. S. Li, M. Qin, and X. Guo construct a new class of Virasoro modules, which include many known modules, and study them in a completely uniform fashion.
