The authors consider in a Banach space \(X\) the semilinear fractional differential equation \[ D^{\alpha}_{t}u(t)=Au(t)+D^{\alpha -1}_{t}f(t,u(t)), \] where \(1<\alpha<2\), the operator \(A\) is sectorial of type \(\omega\) and \(f\) is Stepanov-like almost automorphic in the sense defined by \textit{G. M. N'Guérékata} and \textit{A. Pankov} [Nonlinear Anal., Theory Methods Appl. 68, No.~9 (A), 2658--2667 (2008; Zbl 1140.34399)]. Assuming in addition that \(f\) satisfies some Lipschitz type conditions, they prove the existence and uniqueness of an almost automorphic (in the sense of Bochner) mild solution of the above equation. The results extend previous ones by \textit{C. Cuevas} and \textit{C. Lizama} [Appl. Math. Lett. 21, No.~12, 1315--1319 (2008; Zbl 1192.34006)]. A new result of composition of of Stepanov-like almost automorphic functions is also announced. Finally, the abstract results are supported by an example of fractional relaxation-oscillation equation with almost automorphic solution.
