In this very interesting paper the author proves that every homeomorphism h of a Cantor set C onto C can be extended to a homeomorphism of some pseudoarc P which contains C onto P. Assuming that C is in the plane the author constructs in the plane a decreasing sequence of crooked chains each of which contains C in such a way as to obtain both a pseudoarc P containing C and a homeomorphism on P extending h. One application is that there is a homeomorphism of the pseudoarc onto itself with positive topological entropy. This answers a question of M. Barge. The author proves a strong homogeneity property of the pseudoarc (Theorem 7): For \(i=1,2\) let \(C_ i\) be a Cantor set in the pseudoarc \(P_ i\). If, for each \(i=1,2\), \(C_ i\) meets each composant of \(P_ i\) in at most one point then there is a homeomorphism f: \(P_ 1\to P_ 2\) such that \(F(C_ 1)=C_ 2\). Corollary 8: If C is a Cantor set in a pseudoarc P such that C meets each composant of P in at most one point then each homeomorphism of C onto C extends to a homeomorphism of P onto P.
