The authors determine the multiplicity of the irreducible representation \(V(n)\) of the simple Lie algebra \(\mathfrak{sl}_2(\mathbb C)\) as a direct summand of its fourth exterior power \(\bigwedge^4V(n)\). The multiplicity is 1 (resp. 2) if and only if \(n=4,6\) (resp. \(n=8,10\)). For these \(n\) the authors determine the multilinear polynomial identities of degree \(\leq 7\) satisfied by the \(\mathfrak{sl}_2(\mathbb C)\)-invariant alternating quaternary algebra structures obtained from the projections \(\bigwedge^4V(n)\mapsto V(n)\). The authors extend the work of \textit{M. R. Bremner} and \textit{I. R. Hentzel} [Lect. Notes Pure Appl. Math. 246, 55--82 (2006; Zbl 1330.17006)] to the fourth exterior power and discover new natural examples of \(n\)-ary generalizations of Lie algebras.
