If (X,\(\perp)\) is an orthogonality space and \((Y,+)\) an abelian group, then a mapping \(f:X\to Y\) is called orthogonally additive if \(f(x_ 1+x_ 2)=f(x_ 1)+f(x_ 2)\) for all \(x_ 1,x_ 2\in X\) with \(x_ 1\perp x_ 2\). The author continues his investigation of orthogonally additive mappings. The results of part I [Aequationes Math. 28, 35-49 (1985; Zbl 0569.35006)], and part II [Publ. Math. 35, No.3/4, 241-249 (1988; Zbl 0679.39004)] and of \textit{Gy. Szabo} [Aequationes Math. 30, 93- 105 (1986; Zbl 0594.39007)] are extended and complemented including new examples in the general framework.
