    The manuscript deals with the group inverse of the product of two matrices over associative rings with \(1\). A square matrix \(A\) is said to be group invertible if there exists a matrix \(X\), denoted by \(X=A^{\sharp}\), such that \[ AXA=A, \;\;XAX=X \;\;\text{and} \;\;AX=XA. \] In this paper, sufficient and necessary conditions and some sufficient conditions of the group invertibility of \(AB\) and \(BA\) are given, where \(A \in R^{m \times n}\) and \(B \in R^{n \times m}\), \(R\) being an associative ring with \(1\). From the theoretical results, the representations of the group inverse of two classes \(2 \times 2\) anti-triangular block matrices are presented. These classes are the following: {\parindent=6mm \begin{itemize} \item(1) \(M=\left( \begin{matrix} ACB & A \\ B & 0 \end{matrix} \right)\), where \(A \in R^{m \times n}\), \(B \in R^{n \times m}\) and \(C \in R^{n \times n}\). \item (2) \(M=\left( \begin{matrix} C & A \\ B & 0 \end{matrix} \right)\), where \(A \in R^{m \times n}\), \(B \in R^{n \times m}\), \(C \in R^{n \times n}\), \(R(C)=R(A)\) and \(C^{\sharp}\) exists, \(R(A)\) being the range of \(A\). \end{itemize}}
