Some prerequisites are recalled on the properties of the \(q\)-Whittaker measures and related \(q\)-difference operators. The authors recall as well some facts about the inhomogeneous stochastic higher spin vertex model and contour integral formulas. Then they studies the action of the \(q\)-Whittaker difference operator. The \(q\)-TASEP/vertex model coupling is investigated.
