Let \(P\) be a topological property. A space \(X\) is said to be star\, \(P\) if whenever \(\mathcal U\) is an open cover of \(X\) there is a subset \(A\subseteq X\) with property \(P\) such that \(X=St(A,\mathcal U)=\bigcup\{U\in\mathcal U:U\cap A\not =\emptyset\}\). The authors consider Lindelöf, \(\sigma\)-compact, countable as a property \(P\). The set \(A\) is called a star kernel of the cover \(\mathcal U\). There are in particular the following theorems: {\parindent4mm \begin{itemize}\item[--] A normal P-space is feebly Lindelöf if and only if it has countable extent, \item[--] Asssume that \(2^\omega<2^{\omega_1}\). If \(X\) is a normal, feebly Lindelöf space and \(\chi(X)\leq 2^\omega\), then \(X\) has countable extent. \end{itemize}} A topological space \(X\) is said to be feebly Lindelöf if every locally finite family of open non-empty sets in \(X\) is countable.
