The authors develop a theory of higher order contact for piecewise parametric curves using iterated evolutes, polar curves and binormal indicatrices. For this purpose two sets of invariants are constructed, representing the order of contact at the points under consideration. The major part of the paper is devoted to an exhibition of well-known results from differential geometry, while the central results of the paper are presented in a mathematically unsatisfactory way.
