In recent time many interpolation problems in function theory were related to extension problems of structured matrices, see \textit{H. Dym} and \textit{I. Gohberg} [J. Anal. Math. 42, 51-97 (1983; Zbl 0561.47041)] and \textit{J. A. Ball}, \textit{I. Gohberg} and \textit{M. A. Kaashoek} [Integral Equations Oper. Theory 27, 253-284 (1997; Zbl 0898.47008)]. The paper under review contains a generalization of the band method which solves as an application a Carathéodory-Toeplitz interpolation problem for operator valued functions with operator arguments.
