The authors consider some of the most simple nondegenerate singularities of vector fields whose local flows are known to be determined by normal forms up to finite order, and study the possible restrictions that may develop on the flows defined by scalar functional differential equations with these singularities, as a result of restricting the number of delays appearing in the nonlinear terms.
