The authors describe an explicit construction of an intertwining operator, also called metaplectic operator, for the case of finite abelian groups. This setting is important in time-frequency analysis, particularly for the finite approximation of multivariate Gabor frames. The described approach to the finite case also implies a simple construction for the multivariate Euclidean case.
