The authors present a new model order reduction technique which preserves passivity and non-expansivity. The method exploits the solution of linear matrix inequalities to generate a descriptor state space format which preserves positivity and boundedness. Solving the linear matrix inequality is replaced by solving an equivalent algebraic Riccati equation, known to be a faster approach. A new algebraic Riccati equation and a frequency inversion technique are presented to specifically deal with the singular case. The paper concludes with an analysis of the method through numerical simulation.
