The paper starts with a concise description of the backward error and condition numbers. Then some relevant properties of the Kronecker product are enumerated, and the relationship of a condition number to the corresponding nearest distance of singularity is discussed. This is followed by a discussion of the optimal scaling to achieve a minimum condition number, an examination of the condition number sensitivity by analyzing the level-2 condition number, and a proof of the fact that condition numbers are approximately as sensitive as the original problem. The paper concludes with some numerical results and proposes suggestions for future work.
