This is an expository article, mostly based on the theoretical study done earlier: \textit{E. Larsson} and \textit{B. Fornberg} [Comput. Math. Appl. 49, No. 1, 103--130 (2005; Zbl 1074.41012)]. The study relates to finding an optimal shape parameter for radial basis functions (RBF), which then leads to Runge phenomenon as a key error mechanism. To illustrate their discussions they have provided several examples, figures, charts, graphs, tables, etc. which do provide the motivation for this work. The key observation in this study is that the error in RBF interpolation, as the basis function's `shapparameter' tend to zero, is dominated by some factors analyzed here.
