The author gives geometric characterizations of finite determinacy with respect to various equivalence relations for convergent diagrams of smooth map germs. As an application, he determines nice dimensions of some diagrams of smooth map germs, using the results of \textit{J. N. Mather} [Proc. Liverpool Singularities-Symp. I, Dept. Pure Math. Univ. Liverpool 1969-1970, 207-253 (1971; Zbl 0211.561)] and \textit{C. T. C. Wall} [Math. Proc. Camb. Philos. Soc. 97, 79-88 (1985; Zbl 0568.58008)].
