The main aim of the paper is the derivation of a posteriori error estimates for fully-discrete space-time methods discretising semilinear parabolic problems. In particular, an implicit-explicit variable order (\textit{hp}-version) discontinuous Galerkin timestepping scheme is employed, in conjunction with conforming finite element discretisation in space. The linear spatial operator is treated implicitly while the nonlinear reaction term is treated explicitly. As a consequence the time-marching does not involve the solution of a nonlinear system. The proof is based on an appropriate space-time reconstruction combined with a continuation argument. Various numerical examples are also included.
