This is one more paper within a series of the authors' works about linearizations of matrix polynomials. Here they extend the recent progress of Fiedler linearizations with square matrix polynomials to the class of rectangular matrix polynomials. The main idea is to obtain linearizations that retain spectral information about the original matrix polynomial permitting the recovery of minimal indices and polynomial bases. The concern is also with the preservation of special structures like symmetry and palindromicity. In the achievements an algorithm to construct the Fiedler pencils, the proof that Fiedler pencils of rectangular matrix polynomials are strong linearizations and a formulae for the recovery of minimal indices and bases of a matrix polynomial from its Fiedler pencils are included.
