The authors consider a nonlinear Fredholm integral equation of the second kind of the following form \[ f(x,y)= g(x,y)+ \int_{0}^{1} \int_{0}^{1}K(x,y,s,t)U(f(s,t))dtds, \qquad (x,y)\in [0,1]\times [0,1] \] and an adequate Volterra equation. For these equations the approximate solution is obtained by a quadrature method based on the system of functions \[ l_{i,j}(x,y)= h_{i}(x) h_{j}(y), \qquad i,j= 0,1,\dots,m, \] where \( h_{i}(x), h_{j}(y)\) are special systems of linear splines on the interval \([0.1]\). The convergence of this method is proved and the numerical results for some examples are given.
