The main goal of the present paper (from the modeling viewpoint) is to study the effect of interspecific competition on the dynamics of neutral genetic diversity in a range-expanding population. From the mathematical point of view, the authors consider the traveling wave solutions of a classical system of reaction-diffusion equations of Lotka-Volterra-type. These traveling wave solutions of minimal speed describe the spread of an invasive species in an environment already hosting a resident competitor. The paper presents also some numerical experiments which are compared to the analytical results from other studies.
