The authors present two new topological proofs for the well-known fact that moduli space of an equilateral pentagon in the plane is a closed surface of genus four. They also provide a novel algebraic description of this surface in terms of a trivariate polynomial of degree twelve, extend this description to the general (non-equilateral) case, and visualize topologically different examples of this surface.
