The author considers the problem of finding suitable functions to represent electromagnetic fields on or near curved surfaces. He discusses a number of shapes for elements to cover the surface such as curved triangular and curved quadrilaterals and extends the ideas to base functions formed by the tensor product of one-dimensional Jacobian polynomials. Also discussed is the use of Dubiner basis triangles. There are however no actual examples illustrating the use of the ideas presented.
