The paper deals with analytical redundancy relations for fault detection and isolation in continuous-time, time-invariant, nonlinear, dynamic systems. Supposing the systems are described using polynomial differential algebraic equations, the existence and computational issues of these relations are considered. The concept of D-detectable faults is introduced. The residual evaluation form is given for sensor, actuator, and process component faults. Fault detectability and isolability conditions are discussed. The design of robust structured residuals is presented. However, all assertions are given without proofs. A numerical example is supplied.
