This paper is a development of the Thomas method for investigation of systems of partial differential equations and relations. The proposed algorithm is based on the Gröbner basis technique or more general on involutive bases, and it splits differential polynomial systems into triangular simple systems. This is useful in particular, for detecting integrability conditions and for completion to involution.
