The authors present a method for defining a homotopy to find all solutions to a polynomial system. They first review several methods developed in the literature over the last ten years. Then they show how to construct valid homotopies using only a single random parameter and demonstrate how to reduce the number of continuation paths. An example from robot kinematics is detailed and two continuation methods are given to solve it.
