The author shows a method to construct embedded complete minimal surfaces in \(\mathbb{R}^ 3\) with finite total curvature, with prefixed topology and behaviour at infinity in terms of the Weierstrass representation. The author describes the kind of Riemann structure and Weierstrass data, which give us the good candidates. In order to conclude the existence of such a surface, we must solve the so-called Period Problem. This is in general a difficult problem and remains as the main step in the construction of the above type of surfaces.
