In this paper complete minimal surfaces embedded in \(\mathbb{R}^ 3\) with total curvature \(12\pi\) and of genus one are studied. We find the construction of the examples announced by Hoffman and Meeks with three ends of catenoid type, together with a uniqueness theorem, which classifies these examples and Costa's surface. The theory of elliptic functions is used. On page 279 the case \(z_ 1+z_ 2\equiv 0\) is excluded. At this point the referee cannot follow the argument of the author.
