The paper concerns the residual Julia set of a meromorphic function, i.e. the subset of the Julia set consisting of points which do not lie in the boundary of any component of the complement of the Julia set. Some results about residual Julia sets of rational functions are extended to transcendental entire or meromorphic functions.
