The author considers the most general canonical quadratic system with five parameters and studies the so-called ``ergodicity'' phenomenon of limit cycles which was introduced some years ago by Ye Yanqian. Namely, he shows that under appropriate change of parameters the canonical system can have limit cycles around each of four finite critical points in turn.
