Wave propagation in wood is an actual problem for ultrasonic identification of rotten regions inside wooden telegraph poles. Here, the authors employ Frobenius and Neumann series approaches to study free in-plane vibrations of wooden poles. The accuracy of two methods is examined by the calculation of roots of characteristic equation related to free vibrations.
