The author studies integral lattices \(L\) satisfying the following conditions: \(L\) is given by an ideal of the \(m\)-th cyclotomic field over \(\mathbb{Q}\), with inner product \(\text{Tr} (\alpha x\overline{y})\) for some totally positive field element \(\alpha\), and \(L\) is similar to its dual. In this situation \(L\) is called a modular ideal lattice. Theorem 1 says that, given \(m\), such a lattice exists if and only if \(m\) is not a power of a prime \(p=4k+1\). Theorems 2 and 3 characterize the modular ideal lattices with \(\alpha=1\) and similarity norm \(\ell=1\) (this case had been considered earlier by the author) or \(\ell\) prime. Several interesting examples of such lattices are known.
