For the Navier-Stokes equations with small viscosity, the author studies asymptotic solutions whose weak limit has a jump discontinuity on a two-dimensional surface. The equations describing the leading term of the asymptotic expansion and correction terms are obtained and analyzed. The author also describes a recursive procedure for constructing formal asymptotic series providing a solution of the corresponding Cauchy problem.
