Let \(E\) be a Fréchet space over a non-Archimedean valued complete field \(K\). It is shown by means of an elegant proof that, if \(E\) is infinite-dimensional, it has a basic sequence (i.e., a sequence that is a Schauder base of its closed linear span). It is the answer to a question posed in \textit{N. De Grande-De Kimpe}, \textit{J. Kakol}, \textit{C. Perez-Garcia} and \textit{W. Schikhof} [Indag. Math., New Ser. 11, No. 2, 187-195 (2000; review above)].
