With the recent study by Arkhangel'skij and others of the notion of a sharp base, several questions regarding related topics, such as weakly uniform bases, have enjoyed a renewal of interest. In this paper, the authors unify and strengthen many of the known results in this area using the ideas of \(\kappa\)-in-countable and \(\kappa\)-in-finite collections. A collection \({\mathcal B}\) of subsets of \(X\) is \(\kappa\)-in-finite provided that any subset \(A\) of \(X\) of size \(\kappa\) can be contained in only finitely many members of \({\mathcal B}\). So, for example, a weakly uniform base would be a 2-in-finite collection. They introduce higher cardinality versions of these ideas and use those to prove interesting results as well.
