\textit{R. Chapman} [J. Aust. Math. Soc., Ser. A 69, 287-297 (2000; Zbl 0964.11030)] showed that the Leech lattice can be obtained by Construction \(A\) over \(\mathbb Z_{2k}\) for all \(k\) that are not a power of 11. To settle the case \(k = 11^r\) in the affirmative, it suffices to find an extremal Type II \(\mathbb Z_{22}\)-code of length 24. Such a code, which is quasi-twisted, is presented in this note.
