In this paper the authors prove that the time decay rate of \(L^2\) norm of weak solution for the the Stokes equations as well as the Navier-Stokes equations on the half spaces are \(t^{-\frac{n}{2}(\frac{1}{r}-\frac{1}{2}) -\frac{1}{2}}\) if the initial data \(u_0\in L^2\cap L^r\) and \(\int_{\mathbb R_{+}^n}|y_n u_0(y)|^r dy<\infty\) for \(r\in (1,2)\). Moreover, it is proved that the decay rate is determined by the linear part of the weak solution. A key role is played by the heat kernel and Ukai's solution formula for the Stokes equations.
