    The authors deal with the following second-order delay differential equation \[ x''(t)=f(x(t-\tau))-\alpha x(t). \tag{1} \] Assuming that \(f\) is a piecewise constant nonlinearity, they are able to prove that equation (1) exhibits chaos.
