The author studies reinforced random walks on \(\mathbb{Z}\), in the sense of \textit{B. Davis} [Probab. Theory Relat. Fields 84, No. 2, 203-229 (1990; Zbl 0665.60077)]. He gives tests on the initial weights and on the reinforcing matrix according to which these random walks are transient, recurrent, or have a finite range.
