The paper studies local existence and uniqueness of weak solutions to the Cauchy--Dirichlet problem for nonlinear parabolic equations \[ \begin{cases} u_t-\text{div }(a(x,t,\nabla u))=\rho(x,t)|u|^{p-1}u & \text{ in } \Omega\times(0,T),\\ u=0 & \text{ on } \partial\Omega\times(0,T),\\ u(x,0)=u_0(x) & \text{ in } \Omega\end{cases} \] with \(\Omega\subset {\mathbb R}^N,\) \(N>2,\) is a bounded subset, \(p>1,\) \(\rho(x,t)\) is a bounded function and \(a(x,t,\xi)\) is a Carathéodory function satisfying suitable growth conditions.
