Every topological space admits a compatible quasi-uniformity (even totally bounded) and quite often any `natural' quasi-uniformity is automatically transitive. There are examples of \(T_1\)-spaces where every quasi-uniformity is necessarily transitive. The authors prove that every completely regular Hausdorff space admits a compatible, non-transitive, totally bounded quasi-uniformity. This leaves open the question as to whether Hausdorff spaces admit such quasi-uniformities.
