A \textit{symplectic instanton vector bundle of rank $2r$ and charge $n$} on $\mathbb{P}^3$ is an algebraic vector bundle $E$ on $\mathbb{P}^3$ of rank $2r$, equipped with a symplectic structure $\phi:E\to E^\vee$, $\phi^\vee=-\phi$, and satisfying the vanishing conditions $h^0(E)=h^1(E(-2))=0$. Let $I_{n,r}$ denote the \textit{moduli space of symplectic $(n,r)$-instantons}. \par This paper is devoted to the study of the geometry of the moduli spaces $I_{n,r}$. While in the companion paper [Cent. Eur. J. Math. 10, No. 4, 1232--1245 (2012; Zbl 1282.14020)] the authors investigated the case $n\equiv r(\bmod 2)$, with $n\ge r$, in the paper under review they consider the other case, that is $n\equiv r+1 (\bmod 2)$, with $n\ge r+1$. \par In order to avoid a kind of pathological monads, they introduce the notion of tame syplectic instantons. The main result of the paper is that the open set of tame symplectic instantons, denoted by $I^*_{n,r}$, is irreducible and has the expected dimension, $4n(r+1)-r(2r+1)$.
