In Theorem 1.1 the author establishes necessary conditions on the nonlinearity \(f(u)\) for the existence of a semistable positive solution for an elliptic equation \[ L u +f(u) = 0 \] with zero boundary conditions in a bounded, smooth domain \(\Omega \subset \mathbb{R}^n\). In Theorem 1.2 weak integrability conditions on a weak, nonnegative solution \(u\), together with conditions on \(f(u)\), are used to establish stronger integrabiliy estimates on \(u\). A number of corollaries follows.
