This paper studies fractional differential equations in a Banach space with Riemann-Liouville fractional derivatives. The order of the fractional derivative is taken between zero and one and the equation is taken of functional type. Existence of solutions under certain conditions is established. The main techniques used are generalized Gronwall inequality, Schauder's and Banach's fixed point theorems. At the end, an example is given for illustration.
