The goal of this paper is to give a quite simple proof of Gromov's non-squeezing theorem in dimension four as well as some new results of the same type. The novelty consists in proposing a direct analytic method of constructing pseudoholomorphic curves by solving the corresponding non-linear equation. After that one applies the idea of Gromov how to use such curves for the proof of the non-squeeezing property of symplectomorphisms. As an example of a new statement let us formulate the answer given in this paper to the question posed by the reviewer. Let us call the domain \[ D^2_{re} := \big\{(z_1,z_2): x_1^2+x_2^2 <1, y_1^2+y_2^2 <1\big\} \] the real bidisc. The question was to prove that the real bidisc is not symplectomorphic to the complex bidisc \[ D^2 = \big\{(z_1,z_2): |z_1| <1, |z_2|<1\big\}. \] The authors of this paper prove even more: there exists \(R>1\) such that there is no symplectomorphic imbedding of \(D^2_{re}\) to \(D_R\times \mathbb{C}\). Here \(D_R\) stands for the disc of radius \(R\).
